This morning I went to quickly scan headlines at NBCNews.com as I usually do, and I was presented with a brand new presentation that is super heavy on images, and starkly lean on text. I found myself scrolling and scrolling just to see if I could catch any information. After poking around enough to see that this new visual explosion of images was the format they had spread over the entire site, I went to CNN.com, glanced over the headlines and read an article or two. Just from my own perspective, if NBCNews.com keeps this format, it will remain quite unattractive to me and I will most likely stop hitting it at all. When I browse the internet for news, I want information, not images that hint at information. I can scan a list of headlines far faster than I can glance at image after image.
